Software scams, where surfers are told by (often very convincing) messages that there PCs are infected with a virus or malware and they need to pay or download more software to remove, have significantly risen in 2010.
According to some of the big name security firms, one million people a day are seeing these "scareware" messages and a great many people are falling for the scams and paying up to remove the fake virus warnings. |
