Would you like to be able to see your home from work (or view work activity from home) using your existing PC and webcam? Ideal for security or just general monitoring of what's happening ...

Well you can do just that using free software and a little set-up knowledge. Of course the downside is that the PC has to remain on and connected to the internet at all times that you want to monitor the webcam from another location ...

(1) Download Yawcam and install. Our tests showed this program to be virus and malware free but you should always do your own checks before running an installation - things can change quickly on the web!

(2) Run Yawcam and you should see a preview window with the images from your webcam being displayed (your webcam needs to be already installed and working obviously).

(3) You should also see a configuration window with 5 options. To view your webcam over the internet choose "http" (enable).

(4) The only possibly tricky part of this set-up is that you may need to do 'port forwarding'. If you get stuck with this then there is a huge amount of information for all sorts of routers at Port Forward. Go to your routers web configuration page (through your browser) and set it forward ports 8888 and 8081 to the IP address that Yawcam is running on (you get this from Yawcam's "Help>What's my IP" option.

(5) Yawcam provides and option to check your set-up - "Help>Am I online?". If all is reported as OK then you can view your webcam across the internet from another location by placing the URL provided into a browser!

Enjoy!
