check hard driveOne of the central tenents of information security is "Availability". One aspect of this, would be to check on the health of your PC's hard disk from time to time (another would be to make sure you have full system backups in case your hard disk crashes completely)

To check for hard disk flaws or problems:

 

you can use the free Windows scanner from DTI-DATA.

Download, install then choose which drive to check. Some scans can take a long time if the drive is large or error ridden.
